    Come join our team!  This is a full time position in which you will be scheduling complex pain management procedures, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications.  This is Monday through Friday, working any 8 hour period between 7 am and 6 pm.  This is eligible for the following benefits:

    The ASC Surgery Scheduler will ensure the patients are properly scheduled at external or internal ambulatory surgery centers. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Services manages surgery schedules, including PRC’s surgery schedule and ensures positive interactions with patients and on the phone. Responsible for coordination of multiple providers and/or multiple locations as requested by the Director of Clinical Services.


    Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintain procedure schedule for all outside procedures. Processes all orders. Verify benefits and authorizations, as needed.
    • Contact insurance carriers to obtain prior authorization as required via phone, fax or insurance portal.
    • Load authorizations and referrals in case management in Streamline.
    • Schedule procedures in office, internal surgery center or off site facility. Prepare booking sheets. Schedule patients for their pre and post appointments and verify authorization for appointments have been obtained
    • Inform provider and patients of status of authorization and denials. Import records and authorizations into the patient’s chart.
    • Audit procedure schedule daily.
    • Retrieve and return voicemails and emails within four business days.
    • Refer patients out for psychological evaluations. Follow up with patients to see if evaluation appointments have been made and obtain psychological evaluation reports to be submitted to insurance carriers for prior authorization
    • Prepare documents and letter of medical necessities for physicians so appeals process can be done on surgical denials.
    • Perform other tasks as needed.

    Position Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Experience in referrals and authorizations required.
    • Minimum of (3) years’ experience in referrals and authorizations preferred.
    • Proficient in Streamline preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to relate effectively to a variety of people.
    • Able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Advanced computer skills related to navigation and software programs preferred.
    • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
    • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 and 10 codes.
    • Knowledge of insurance carriers.
    • Good understanding of managed care referral and authorization process.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations.
