    Job Responsibilities

    The Senior Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for leading the design, configuration and deployment of Unified Communications (Video, VoIP and data networks), LAN/WAN, Cisco routers, switches, and other network infrastructure devices. He / she will assist clients in the daily maintenance of video, voice and data network infrastructure, ensuring optimal network performance and providing trouble-shooting services as needed. He / she will also partner closely with clients to develop communications solutions that address existing and emerging business requirements.

     

    Location:  Nationwide / primarily remote role

     

    Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Leads the design, configuration and deployment of Unified Communications (Video, VoIP and data networks), LAN/WAN, Cisco routers, switches, and other network infrastructure devices.
    • Assist clients in the daily maintenance of video/audio, voice and data network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, and VoIP. Serve as tier 1, 2 and/or tier 3 resource for video/audio, voice and data networks and related network infrastructure devices. Provides highest-level trouble shooting and crisis management support as needed.
    • Monitors and assesses network performance, proactively identifies networking problems and develops solutions to optimize network performance; reviews network utilization statistics to verify that circuits are properly sized; takes proactive approaches in provisioning bandwidth to meet needs.
    • Partners closely with clients to develop communications solutions that address existing and emerging business requirements; provides recommendations on viability, implementation strategies and optimal implementation of solutions.
    • Manages video/audio, data/voice networking relationships and works with vendors to escalate issues when appropriate; reviews data monitoring stats and confirm SLAs with carriers are being obtained.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Master's Degree preferred.
    • CCNA/CCNP or CCNA/CCNP-Voice or equivalent experience required.
    • CCIE Collaboration preferred.
    • At least five years of experience working with Cisco Unified Communication solutions required.
    • At least five years of experience in LAN/WAN network administration and engineering required.
    • Expert-level experience in relevant fields of network engineering/implementation and expert-level hands-on operation of networking equipment, management tools and network analyzers required.
    • Excellent technical skills on Service Provider networks required.
    • Competitive equipment knowledge and experience with a channel partner, large enterprise or university, service operator (carrier), Third Party Network Consulting Services Company or other relevant industry required.
    • Implementation and administration background with Cisco Unified Communications (Telepresence, Collaboration, Applications), Video/Audio systems• Implementation and administration background required in at least two of these areas: Call Manager & Unity Connection, Unity, UCCX, Instant Messaging & Presence , Expressway.
    • Prior experience configuring Cisco UCS servers, TMS/TMS-XE required.
    • Experience working as a consultant is a significant plus, but not required.
    • Job requires approximately 25% travel.
