    Job Responsibilities


    The Pain Center of Arizona, a division of Alliance HealthCare Services, is seeking a full time Procedure Coordinator to assist with scheduling interventional pain management procedures.  This is a Monday through Friday, approximately 8 am to 5 pm, position and eligible for the following benefits:

    The Procedure Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and managing procedure schedules. Processes new procedure orders and follows up according to work flow. Reviews insurance published medical policies. Maintains a professional communication with the providers and patients. Verifies patient financial responsibility. Ensures every customer receives the highest level of customer service.


    Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Conducts review process on procedures ordered within a timely manner. Reviews patient history and compares to insurance guidelines to ensure they meet medical necessity. Communicates with providers to explain the need for additional medical information to support the Utilization Review process as needed.
    • Submits requests to insurances for prior authorization. Verifies benefits, documents account and informs or collects the amount due based on the procedure and patients benefits. 
    • Notifies and documents, according to the workflow, missing documentation to providers and patients. Audits procedure schedules to ensure maximization of scheduling accuracy and that the proper authorizations are in place. 
    • Communicates with offices and patients when procedures do not meet medical necessity. Creates documents to be signed by patients.
    • Works with other departments to resolve issues, such as billing, patient relations, scheduling, etc. Additional duties as assigned.


    Position Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Certificate from College or Technical School preferred.
    • 2-3 years of experience in medical or related field required.
    • 2-3 years of surgery or procedure scheduling experience required.
    • Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of insurance providers and plans.
    • Excellent written and oral skills.
    • Ability to read medical history and identify medical necessity according to provider’s policy.
    • Must be knowledgeable and comfortable communicating with doctors and there office staff, and educating them in UR and MN.
